The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse chancellor who invited a porn star to campus to talk about the adult entertainment industry as part of free speech week has been reprimanded "for exercising poor judgment."
And it may cost him more than the $5,000 he already paid from his own pocket to cover her speaking fee after a backlash drew international attention.
At risk is Chancellor Joe Gow's unknown pay raise that the UW Board of Regents is expected to consider next week during a previously scheduled meeting on the UW-La Crosse campus.
Gow has been chancellor at UW-La Crosse since 2007 and earns $224,400. The regents gave him a 3.6 percent raise of $7,600 two years ago, and he's among several chancellors up for another performance-based pay increase on top of a 2 percent raise all state employees received in July.
