Young Children May Go Hungry as Summer Begins

Tens of thousands of children could go hungry this summer as a growing number of states and cities decline federal summer food dollars, slash their own offerings or reach capacity earlier than expected. More than 40 percent of summer meal participants are children ages 5 to 8.
